Research Interests:

Dr. Anne E. Brodsky’s research focuses on resilience at both individual and community levels and the role of communities, psychological community, and cultures in addressing and resisting societal risks such as community violence, poverty, racism, sexism, and other forms of oppression. She employs qualitative methods to explore resilience processes across diverse populations, including:

  • Single mothers raising children in risky neighborhoods of Washington, DC
  • Low-income women in a holistic job training and education program in Baltimore, MD
  • Afghan women in pre- and post-Taliban Afghanistan
  • Immigrant and non-immigrant communities in the Baltimore/Washington corridor and in Italy

  • Qualitative Methods (Psyc 738)

Graduate Research and Training Opportunities:

Dr. Brodsky is currently accepting graduate students interested in research and applied psychology, particularly those in the Clinical/Community Psychology tracks. Opportunities are available for students who wish to apply qualitative methods to study resilience, culture, gender, and community dynamics.
